Community First Adult Foster Care Program supports the
family not just the enrolled member. It is our mission to create an inclusive
environment that focuses on the holistic development and care of our members
and caregivers. The physical and mental health of the caregivers are paramount
to the success of the placement and keeping the member safe in the community. As
such we ensure that our caregivers are educated, provided with monthly training
on an array of topics and informed about strategies to care for themselves. The
caregivers are also paid a monthly tax-free stipend to offset the cost of
caring for a member in their home.
Our Commitment to
Our Caregivers – We CARE
Communicate – We
maintain constant communication with our caregivers to ensure that they are
adhering to principles of effective self-care while catering to the care needs
of the members they serve.
Advocate – We
meticulously advocate for our caregivers to ensure that they have access to all
the needed benefits, services, and resources available in the community. Having
access to services such as Alternate care, Day Habilitation program, Best
Buddies, respite care or a caregiver support group provides the caregivers with
temporary relief and helps to solidify the placement.
Refer – We continuously
evaluate our caregivers to ensure that they are being referred for services and
benefits that may be beneficial to the placement.
Educate – We offer monthly training to our caregivers to educate them about the benefits of self-care, coping skills as well as strategies to avoid caregiver burnout.
